Antelope Island

I must be a 'glutton for punishment!' I hate winter, I hate cold, I hate gray days, & I usually hate snow. So being ill with 'cabin fever', I drove to the barren, mostly desolate Antelope Island, accessed by a causeway into the Great Salt Lake. Water/ice, sky, land, everything was foggy/whitish/grayish. Most people go there to spot wildlife, and I'm a horrible wildlife photographer. I'm never patient enough to wait until I spy something to shoot, and if I do see some wild thing, I usually have the wrong lens, the wrong camera setting, or I fumble around too long and miss the shot....the bird flies away, the animal runs away, etc. So what was I thinking!!! For me, just to capture something at all is a success! So here's what I got.....

They must be antelope since I was on Antelope Island!!!

Is that a wolf???

Well, these must fall under the category of birds!

Karen, oh what wonderful images! The Pronghorns are fantastic. I've only seen a few, over the years. Saw several last summer on the Prairie, but they are usually miles away! The wolf is another special one. My favourite is the birds. That's a very pleasant shot and I love it!

Well, you were rather successful in capturing these wonderful images. I have never seen the Pronghorns before. Love your red rose in the previous post.

Haha, yeah I think those are birds! That made me smile. I love the photos. Is that a wolf or a coyote? The face looks kinda coyote-ish, but then I'm not an expert in coyotes or wolves. I am, however, an expert in cabin fever! Thanks for stopping in today. Seventies isn't summer weather? It sure is in my neck of the woods. And when we get to the upper 80s, we start complaining about the heat. Lol

For not being a wildlife photographer, I'd say you did quite well!

Well you got some good shots here and I especially like the last one with all the birds which look like a mixture of geese and ducks! Love the atmosphere in that one. That wolf, or coyote, has a hungry look in his eyes... glad he wasn't looking at you!

Nice - you're a very good wildlife photographer. It may be desolate but that island has its own beauty.

Hello Karen!:) Thank you for your nice comment on my blog.:) Well, there is certainly a lot more wild life to see than Antelope on the Island, but they are beautiful animals. Your photos turned out well, and I like all of them. I would love to see a buffalo in the wild, as well as a wolf/coyote. I could not see any of these special creatures here in Portugal. Nice shot of the ducks and geese also, which I do see but not in quite as large numbers as in your pictures.:)

hahaha, for Karen to say those things is amusing. I actually laughed because i know you're a very good photographer, and these 3 shots from an impatient non-wildlife photographer who humbly says she was not prepared, are all magnificent. LOL.
