Sunset Romance

Sunset Romance

Don't they make a beautiful couple!  I guess it's alright to say that about my own son and daughter-in-law.  I think they could quit their day jobs and be models (but I wouldn't want them to!)  I love the way Emily's veil is lit by the sun, as is the outline of Dalin's suit.  With my camera on manual, I exposed for the sky pointing in the sky to the right of the bright sun.  Of course this put Dalin and Emily in silhouette.   (If I'd exposed for them, the sun would have been totally blown out.)  To light them, I put my flash off camera on a stand and attached it to a small, portable light box, triggered with two pocket wizards.  With one attached to my camera and one attached to the flash I then experimented with flash strength until I got what I liked.  In post processing I used a Lightroom preset to turn the artificial flash to the same warm color as the natural sunset color.  I love how this turned out.

(Shortly after this shot, the sun went below the horizon and instantly we were attacked by 10 trillion mosquitoes and noseeums.  Read my comment in the last post.)

Beautiful shot. The sky was perfect, as was the rest of your light.

Gosh if there would become a day I'll be as good as you...I'll keep working on it.

Just last week I bought myself finally a new lens for my canon...yehaaa.
Can't wait to see more of these beauties. Oh and good luck with al the mosquitoe bites.

this is my favorite of their wedding photos that you have posted. the muscle car photos almost muscled this one out but not quite. Stunning is a good work, remarkable another. you are very talented and i wish I understood all the words i read about what you did.
i did understand the noseeums. i hate those little buggers and they do love dark and also rainy days. at my mothers funeral in 1990, it was raining in Savannah Ga and as we stood under the tent we were attacked so badly we had to leave before they were finished. mosquitos i can slap at noseeums NO

Very clever work! Sounds too technical for me and i wouldn't have the patience. Your son and daughter in law must be very patient too. They look stunning and the un on the veil and suit is magic.Well done.

You lost me at "to light them...." but I love the amazing result!

Thanks for joining in on Sunset Sunday. I see people out there at Antelope Island trying this all the time and I always wonder how they did. Yours is perfect and should be used as the example for everyone to try to meet.

The light on this is amazing! What I'm thinking is that this represents the couple being together through their sunset years.
