Pohutukawa Tree

Pohutukawa Tree, New Zealand

A Facebook photog friend challenged me to post a photo of trees for seven days.  Here is my first post.  These trees are very common in New Zealand and grow very big.  The kiwi's, (what New Zealanders call themselves), call them their Christmas trees because they bloom at Christmastime and are so beautiful.

I am guessing you were in the North Island, and maybe somewhere in the Coromandel area. Super to see our trees through your eyes.

What a wonderful tree with those red blooms. I love the environment you've photographed here: water and mountains and scudding clouds in the sky!
Another Sandra but from Switzerland!

With a beautiful tree like that who needs a tree that has to be decorated and later taken down.

I am lucky to have visited NZ in December, the blooming month for pohotukawa, it was really lovely. Those at the Auckland Botanical Garden are really made to shape like Christmas trees, very beautiful.
