Milky Way at Lake Powell

Milky Way at Lake Powell

On this beautiful Lake Powell night, as the day's fading light slowly revealed the splendor of the heavens, I paused from taking photos to be still and enjoy this profound beauty. The tranquility and peace of my moment was only interrupted by the sweet sounds of laughter that was music to my ears, as 12 of my 13 grandchildren were all together in the houseboat, playing twister and eating more junk food than their parents would allow in a year. And, I would like to think, that somewhere among the stars, my 13th grandchild, my precious angel grandson, was watching over his brothers, sister and cousins and he was enjoying this moment with me. I believe that families are forever, God is in His heavens, and all will be well!

Both your photo and words evoke a sense of peace and spirit. You capture an essence - a moment in time for all of us to see and feel.

Words from your heart, that fit to your photo perfectly. All your family, and a grandson from above, sharing that beauty, superb settings for the Milky Way and the houseboat.

Great composition, Karen!
Your sky is definitely much much clearer than ours - we had clouds, fog, frizzle, dust, rain, ...
...absolutely no chance to see or photograph the milky way!

What a wonderful paragraph for your grandchildren, the awesome photo looks like a tribute. Because i already saw your explanations earlier in another post of the Milky Way, i am not terribly awed anymore with this one. Previously, i thought it really was just one shot, haha! Lastly, congratulations to the beautiful and talented, caring grandma!

We moved a month ago and I have been struggling with internet connections...so tonight I realize all that I have missed here! This picture and place would be a dream for me...I have never been able to photograph the Milky Way. Wow! And all those aspen trees? Stunning! I am going to get in bed early with my iPad and read your tech talks and ponder the question about being a photo snob. Sadly, I think I can be...and I need to rethink all of your questions. Thanks for making me think!
