Johnson Arch, Snow Canyon, Utah

About a week ago I took a late afternoon walk to Johnson's Arch which is at the end of a box canyon about 10 minutes away from our casita.  The cottonwood trees that grow near the stream beds are beginning to show their spring greens, and to the left is the path I am walking along.

Well, of all the spectacular arches in red rock country, this certainly isn't one of them!  In fact I had to look a while to find it.  It is hard to spot because there is another cliff close behind it.  Can you see it??

By the time I walked back the sun was doing its thing to the ruddy red/orange landscape.  Spring in the desert is beautiful!

The arch may not be as spectacular as you had wished for but the scenery all around is amazing.

I didn't realize how beautiful the desert could be in the Spring. Your photos are wonderful.

Beautiful! The only other place I have seen with red soil is Prince Edward Island.

The colours in the desert are magic. I could spot the arch. I would love to stroll along that beckoning path.

We drove through Snow Canyon when visiting relatives in May of 2013. We didn't do any hiking. It's so beautiful there! Your photos are wonderful.

The warm sands actually look inviting considering the cold snap we've had here lately. You do know how to utilize the sun to enhance those red hues. Beautiful!

Every photo of this area is so inviting with color. This area seems so earthy. We have had no rain this winter here in the desert. First winter in 20 something years I can remember getting nothing. The only color is the palo verda tree in bloom. None of the bushes have come back to life this spring. But I try to enjoy my walks with Sheaba everyday anyway. She is so much more at ease here in the desert then at our ranch up North. Enjoy your Spring.

Good thing there was some light on the rocks behind the arch. I posted an arch today, but it is a little more obvious. I do like your shots though and Snow Canyon is a beautiful place.
