Winter Desert

A Bit of Winter Color

I had to look pretty hard to find some color, but I managed to find a few little flashes to remind me that this landscape will look very different in a few months.  I can't remember what this plant is called, except that it starts with a 'c', but with the many I saw during my traipsing through the desert, there were about 3 growing close together that had a couple colorful tips.

It is ocotillo, one of my favorite desert plants. In the spring those dry looking branches will sprout forth with many tiny green leaves making the plant look all green. That coupled with the firey red flowering tips as you've captured here makes for a beautiful desert dweller. Wonderful pictures!

Sinbad, you are so right. When I saw the name, it was very familiar. Don't know why I thought it started with a 'c'.

The desert is fascinating to see, I've never been there so it's great to at least be able to see it though your lens, thanks Karen.

I love the color of the skies, so blue and the wee bit of red makes for an amazing photo, very nice!
