THE SUNSET OF LIFE
In the sunset of life,
The shadows are dim;
The years orchestrated,
By life’s fickle whims.
Where once there was brightness,
A life filled with light;
It drifts toward the sky,
On shadows of night.
The sweetness of youth,
Is a memory now;
Yet holds all the sweetness,
My heart will allow.
For memories fade,
And 'tho time slips like sand;
My time is dictated,
By God’s simple plan.
In the sunset of life,
I have found joy and peace;
I shall celebrate life,
'Till my sunset has ceased.

A nice poem, and stunningly artful picture. At times the branches look like ice, almost translucent.
Perfect! Absolutely love the shot
perfect poem to go with this extraordinary photo. the photos speaks to the poem and the poem to the photo. I am in the sunset of my life, about like that little leaf, and I celebrate each day I am alive
Hmmmmm lovely lines Karen. And that photo'.....wowow.

Simple yet beautiful.
Beautifully poetic!
Best,

That is a beauty. The small branches look almost translucent with that treatment. Very nice.
Great poem and I love the photo! I am new to your blog and really enjoy your photographs!
Neat picture. The twigs look transparent as if made from glass.
Love the artistic treatment and the way the poem and image work together.
Just a note since several of you mentioned the branches look translucent. It was quite dark when I took this shot and I used my flash. I exposed for the dark leaf, and the bright flash created bright highlights on the twigs. Sometimes you just have to compromise!
This is the second time I have a look Karen. Breathtaking and so different. I love the simplicty of this and the words here are so beautiful.
Have a wonderful day.
Hi Karen,
Thanks so much for visiting my blog, and for your kind comment! Your work is wonderful! This image reminds me of the simplicity of a beautiful Japanese woodcut print -- poetry in a few graceful lines. :)
Really beautiful. Love it.
A work of art. I love the poem... and the veracity of it is proving out.
WOW! Simply Beautiful!!
Lovely, Karen ... both photo and poem, a perfect fit.
It's amazing how much can be packed into a 'simple' photograph, and how much can be packed into a 'simple' poem. Very complementary.
Lovely.
