Clown - Downtown San Jose, Costa Rica
I was Caught in the Act....of Taking a Picture
A couple of posts ago I revealed my fear, and ongoing attempts to reach out to people, learn their stories, and document with my camera. I said, no fair snapping candids long distance. Well, now I'm going to contradict myself, (my husband says this is not unusual). Anyway, sometimes a story is best told when your 'subject' is about his business and does not know he is being observed. (I guess I better put in a disclaimer here. I'm obviously talking about observing people in public, and not something weird like becoming a 'peeping tom'!) Moving on, we were in downtown San Jose, and several clowns were entertaining children in the town square. That is, all the clowns were entertaining children except for one. I noticed this clown was not paying any attention to the children, but was paying a lot of attention to the ladies. He caught me just as I snapped this candid. I just waved and went on my way. Me thinks I see a little smirk on that clown face! and what red blooded clown/man would NOT look at these ladies. the colors are magnificent, so sharp and clear i feel like I am THERE watching the public with you. I am an avid public watcher, but here in US would have to get them to sign a waiver. I have not been able to make myself ask. once I took a photo of a man that I knew was going to be good, asked him if he would sign, his answer was only if i get half what you will get for it. i said i get nothing, it is for my blog. he did not sign so i gave up
This is phun. I noticed where the eyes were on both of the clowns in this photo. Looks like they were having phun with a little candy - eye candy that is. Great shot as always
Great shot - especially his eyes!
Adorei a intensidade das cores!
Beijos.
Chuckling here about those eyes - great phun shot!
Love the colors - reminds me of JP Patches from when I was a kid!! ;o)
PS: There's always exceptions to the rule!! ;o)
You've captured the moment well, with colour and expression in his eyes.
Lots of story in this photo as well as great color.
Great shot Karen! I doubt you would have got such a shot had you waited to ask permission first. I guess that's what makes 'candids' candid!
Ohwww I can't do this eigther. Do you know Beth's blog? She's amazing doing just snapshots of people in the streets and just goes up to them asking if she can...gives me the shivers.
well than again europeans would be to freaked out if I did approche them like that.
Didn't you got scared when he snapped you? I love the photo though.
